More than 40 killed in DR Congo attack linked to Islamic State
An attack by an Islamic State affiliate in the Democratic Republic of Congo's north-eastern region resulted in the deaths of over 40 people, including children, during a night vigil at a church in Komanda. The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militants, now part of the Islamic State's Central African Province, targeted civilians indiscriminately. The Congolese military condemned the attack, aiming to eradicate the ADF and urged civilians to report any suspicious activity. The ongoing violence in the mineral-rich Ituri province, despite joint military efforts, underscores the challenges in combating extremist groups in the region.
