What are the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage and how much are they worth?

The UK government increased the National Living Wage to £12.21 per hour for workers aged 21 and over in April 2025. The National Minimum Wage rates also rose, with 18-20 year olds now earning £10 per hour. Apprentices receive different rates based on age and stage of apprenticeship. Employers must pay the correct rates or face fines, as it is a criminal offense not to comply with the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage regulations.
