Old meter switch-off is pushed back

The UK government has decided to delay the switch-off of Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) meters, with a more cautious and targeted phase-out plan now in place. About 314,000 households, particularly in Scotland, still rely on these obsolete meters for heating and hot water. Suppliers are working to replace them with smart meters, and affected homes and businesses will be contacted well in advance to minimize any disruptions. Fuel poverty campaigners are urging for a clear plan and reassurances that no customers will be left without essential services or face higher bills during the upgrade process.
