British Gas owner among firms fined for underpaying staff

Centrica, the company that owns British Gas, Euro Garages, and Holland & Barrett were fined by the government for underpaying staff. The Department for Business and Trade revealed a list of nearly 500 firms fined over £10m for not meeting national minimum wage requirements. Despite blaming past payroll issues, all affected employees have been reimbursed, as per the companies. Euro Garages, leading the list for underpayments, underpaid thousands of workers, but claimed the payroll problems were resolved.
