Bankers to get bonuses faster under rule change
Published: 10/15/2025

Senior bankers will now receive their bonuses faster as regulators relax rules put in place after the 2007/2008 financial crisis. The deferral period for bonuses will be reduced from eight to four years, with partial payments starting in the first year instead of the third. Regulators believe this change will not encourage risky behavior but will align UK practices with global financial centers, enhancing competitiveness in the banking sector.
