Spanish woman who found fame for botching fresco restoration dies
Cecilia Giménez, elderly Spanish woman known for botching the Ecce Homo fresco restoration in Borja, Spain, has passed away at 94. Her accidental restoration of the Jesus Christ painting, referred to as "Monkey Christ," went viral in 2012. Despite the initial ridicule, Giménez's work attracted thousands of tourists to Borja, and she later showcased her own paintings in an art exhibition. Borja's mayor, Eduardo Arilla, honored her dedication and painting passion in a Facebook post following her death.
