Samsung boss cleared of fraud by South Korea's top court
Samsung boss Lee Jae-yong has been acquitted of fraud charges by South Korea's top court, ending a long legal battle over his involvement in a 2015 merger deal. Lee, the de facto head of Samsung and grandson of the company's founder, was accused of stock and accounting fraud to gain control of the firm. The Supreme Court in Seoul upheld the not guilty verdict, clearing Lee of all charges after two previous trials raised concerns about corporate corruption in South Korea's chaebols.
