Rwanda and DR Congo agree draft peace deal to end conflict
Rwanda and DR Congo have reached a draft peace deal to end the conflict that has plagued the mineral-rich region for decades. This agreement, expected to be formally signed next week, includes provisions for a joint security mechanism and could pave the way for billions in western investment. Mediated by the US and Qatar, the deal focuses on disengagement, disarmament, and integrating armed groups fighting in eastern DR Congo, which includes the M23 rebels.
