Glacier collapse swallows part of Swiss village

A Swiss mountain village, Blatten, was engulfed in ice, mud, and rock after a section of the Birch glacier collapsed, a potential consequence of global warming accelerating glacier melt. Evacuated residents witnessed their village overwhelmed by thousands of tons of debris. Tragically, one person is missing and numerous homes have been destroyed in the aftermath.
