Our dogs' diversity can be traced back to the Stone Age

A new study suggests that the transformation of dogs from wild wolves to our beloved pets began in the Middle Stone Age over 10,000 years ago. Researchers from the University of Montpellier and University of Exeter analyzed over 600 dog and wolf skulls spanning 50,000 years of evolution to uncover how dog breeds diversified. This study challenges the belief that modern dog breeds' diversity was driven solely by Victorian-era selective breeding methods.
