New puberty blockers trial to begin after UK ban
A new UK clinical trial will assess the risks and benefits of puberty blockers in children and young people questioning their gender, following a ban on the drugs for gender treatment last year. Led by researchers from King's College London, the trial will involve around 220 children under 16, examining the impact of puberty blockers on their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. Despite concerns over ethics, the trial aims to better understand how to support the mental and physical health of young individuals with gender incongruence.
