Millions more to get test results via NHS app, government says
Published: 6/7/2025

The UK government plans to make the NHS app the primary tool for communicating test results and health information to patients, moving away from traditional methods like letters. This transition is part of a £50m investment in the app, with the aim of saving the NHS £200m in the next three years. By sending more messages through the app, including appointment reminders and screening invitations, the Department of Health and Social Care hopes to streamline communication and improve patient access to healthcare services, ultimately modernizing the patient experience in the digital age.
