Martha doctor's failings 'particularly grave'

Martha Mills' doctor's failings were deemed "particularly grave" by a medical tribunal, following her death from sepsis. The tribunal found that consultant Prof Richard Thompson neglected to recognize the severity of Martha's illness, ultimately leading to her tragic death. Martha's Rule was subsequently implemented in hospitals across England to make it easier for parents to seek urgent second opinions. Despite the tribunal determining that Prof Thompson's fitness to practice was impaired, no further action was taken against him.
