High Streets and rundown spaces to get £5bn boost - is your area on the list?

The UK government announced a £5bn investment for 339 communities to enhance high streets, parks, and public spaces through the Pride in Place program. The funding will focus on areas identified using the Index of Multiple Deprivation and Community Needs Index, with 169 locations receiving £2m annually for ten years and 95 places a one-off payment of £1.5m. Additionally, councils will be encouraged to acquire and repurpose neglected properties for community projects, while promoting community involvement in decision-making for the allocation of funds.
