Formula 1 tech used to rev-up train wi-fi speeds in new pilot
A new UK-first pilot scheme is underway to improve train Wi-Fi speeds using technology derived from Formula 1 cars. Great Western Railway is implementing a hybrid system involving mobile phone mast signals and low earth orbit satellites to enhance the Wi-Fi connection on their fleet. Developed by Motion Applied, the pilot aims to address the UK's slow train Wi-Fi speeds, with plans to roll out low earth orbit satellite connectivity on all mainline trains by 2030.
