Archaeologists uncover 3,000-year-old mysterious mass burial site
Archaeologists have unearthed a 3,000-year-old mysterious mass burial site in south Scotland during excavations for the Twentyshilling Wind Farm near Sanquhar. Guard Archaeology found five closely-packed urns containing the cremated bones of at least eight individuals, dating back to 1439 to 1287 BC. This discovery sheds light on a possible ancient tragedy like famine that led to the mass burials, as stated by lead archaeologist Thomas Muir, offering a glimpse into Bronze Age burial practices and historical events in the region.
