Colossal squid filmed in ocean for the first time

A colossal squid has been filmed in the ocean for the first time ever, near the South Sandwich Islands in the south Atlantic Ocean. Scientists led by a University of Essex academic captured footage of a 30cm juvenile colossal squid at a depth of 600m. This discovery comes on the 100th anniversary of the species being identified, shedding light on this elusive creature that can grow up to 23ft in length. Researchers also filmed a glacial glass squid, emphasizing the mysteries that still exist in the ocean.
