Back from the brink: UK red kites aid Spanish cousins

British-born red kite chicks have been sent to Spain to aid in reviving the red kite population, nearly wiped out in the Extremadura region due to factors like predators and human intervention. The project aims to increase the dwindling number of mating pairs in Spain through a four-year initiative that includes monitoring the birds with GPS trackers. Conservation efforts have been successful in the UK, where the red kite population has flourished after nearly facing extinction decades ago.
