US court rules many of Trump's global tariffs are illegal

A US appeals court has ruled that many of Donald Trump's global tariffs are illegal, pending appeal to the US Supreme Court. The decision affects reciprocal tariffs on most countries, as well as tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada. The ruling states that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not authorize the President to impose tariffs, as this power belongs to Congress. The case is likely to head to the Supreme Court, where the legality of Trump's tariff program will be further reviewed.
