Police officers take second jobs to pay the bills

Police officers in Sussex are taking on second jobs to cope with the high cost of living, as revealed by data from the Sussex Police Federation. In one of the priciest areas outside of London, 126 officers were reported to have second jobs in May 2025. The federation chair highlighted the financial challenges faced by officers, and a police official acknowledged the tough financial climate all forces are dealing with.
