Wildfires rage on Greek island of Chios

Five wildfires are currently burning on the Greek island of Chios, with residents from 17 communities evacuated as a state of emergency is declared. An arson investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blazes which have damaged homes, crops, and infrastructure. Firefighters, aircraft, and helicopters are operating on the island, with additional support expected from Athens and Thessaloniki to combat the fires amid moderate high temperatures.
