In a 80-year retrospective, BBC's Esme Stallard explains how radiation from the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 is now undetectable. The US dropped the bombs to force Japan's surrender in World War II, resulting in around 214,000 casualties. Despite the devastation, the radiation remnants have dissipated over the years, allowing for recovery and rebuilding in the affected areas.
