Oregon's annual pumpkin regatta in Tualatin features competitors rowing in giant pumpkins they have grown themselves while dressed as characters like Elvis or Guy Fieri. The event began in 2004 and contestants spend the morning hollowing out their pumpkins to make them lighter for faster races. Local farmers often grow the pumpkins for the competition, highlighting dedication to good seeds, soil, luck, and hard work.
