Watch: A Niagara Falls wreck and the rescue that saved two Americans
Published: 12/12/2025

The Iron Scow, a century-old wreck marooned above Niagara Falls since 1918, is slowly disintegrating after recent shifts downstream, with erosion causing the barge to break into parts. Symbolizing the falls' history and power since a daring 1918 rescue, the scow's bow recently moved further downstream, signaling its ongoing decay. Niagara Parks' Jim Hill noted the vessel is now deteriorating, capturing this significant change in a recent video by Eloise Alanna.
