Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest hurricanes in the Caribbean, intensified rapidly due to climate change, as per a study by World Weather Attribution. The storm escalated from a tropical storm to a Category 4 hurricane in a day, benefiting from warmer sea temperatures. Ultimately, it hit Jamaica as a devastating Category 5 hurricane and later made a second landfall in eastern Cuba.
