Rebels in DR Congo city of Uvira have reportedly begun to withdraw after seizing the city, following pressure from the US. The M23 rebel group's move comes after a peace deal between the Congolese and Rwandan governments aimed at ending the conflict in eastern DR Congo. However, the DR Congo government remains cautious, seeking verification of the withdrawal amid concerns of a potential diversion. The capture of Uvira prompted US condemnation and warnings of sanctions against Rwanda, which the US accuses of backing the rebels.
