Malaysian rapper Namewee has been charged with illegal drug use and possession after being arrested in a hotel room last month where ecstasy pills were found. Namewee, known for his satirical songs, denied the charges on Instagram. If convicted of drug possession, he faces up to five years in jail and caning. Namewee has a history of controversy, including a 2016 arrest for a music video deemed insulting to religious sensitivities and a 2021 song mocking Chinese nationalists and banned in China.
