Parents of children with thalassemia in India are devastated as five kids in Madhya Pradesh tested HIV positive after receiving blood transfusions, raising concerns over blood transfusion practices. Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder, requires regular transfusions to manage severe anaemia. HIV, spread through unprotected sex, unsafe medical practices, infected blood transfusions, or from mother to child, necessitates lifelong management, affecting over 2.5 million in India.
