ICC charges Rodrigo Duterte with crimes against humanity

Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte has been charged with crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his alleged involvement in murders during his so-called war on drugs. The charges include his role in the killings of 19 people in Davao City while mayor, as well as the murders of high-value targets and village residents during his presidency from 2016 to 2022. The ICC alleges Duterte was an "indirect co-perpetrator" in these killings carried out by others, including the police. Despite the crackdown resulting in over 6,000 deaths, Duterte has shown no remorse, stating it was to eliminate street crimes.
