Dutch volleyball player and convicted child rapist denied visa to compete in Australia
Dutch volleyball player, Steven van de Velde, convicted of child rape, has been denied an Australian visa to compete in the Beach Volleyball World Championships in Adelaide. South Australia's Attorney-General and Home Affairs Minister have supported the decision, stating foreign child sex offenders shouldn't be allowed entry. Van de Velde, who served time in the UK for the crimes, faced backlash during his sports events and an online petition against his participation in the Olympics garnered 90,000 signatures.
