DR Congo rescuers dig with bare hands for trapped miners
Rescuers in DR Congo are frantically digging with bare hands to save miners trapped in collapsed shafts in a gold-mining area in Lomera. Despite conflicting reports on the death toll, six miners have been rescued alive so far. The region has seen a gold rush since last year, attracting thousands of miners, but lacks proper safety regulations and equipment. The area is controlled by M23 rebels, who recently signed a ceasefire deal with the government.
