Australia signs key defence deal with Papua New Guinea

Australia and Papua New Guinea have signed a significant defence deal allowing for mutual military aid in case of attack, aimed at countering China's influence in the region. The agreement grants Australia access to PNG military facilities and troops, while potentially preventing China from similar infrastructure access. This move is part of a broader strategy by Australia and Western allies to counter China's diplomatic and security efforts in the Pacific region through agreements with countries like the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, and now PNG.
