What we know about the Bondi gunmen
Two gunmen, identified as a father and son - Sajid Akram (deceased) and Naveed Akram (hospitalized) - attacked a Hanukkah event in Bondi Beach, Sydney, killing 15 and injuring 27 before being confronted by the police. They targeted Jewish individuals in what is being treated as a terrorist incident, with ties to the Islamic State group. The attackers had firearms and explosives in their possession, with the father possessing licensed firearms. Despite awareness of Naveed Akram by intelligence agencies prior to the attack, they were deemed not an imminent threat. Residents in their neighborhood described them as normal people who mostly kept to themselves.
