What do we know so far about the damage?

A massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula triggered tsunami warnings across the Pacific, with alerts issued in Japan, Russia, Hawaii, and other countries. Waves flooded parts of Russia and Japan, causing damage and evacuations. Although initial fears were high, the extent of the impact is still being assessed as tsunami waves continue to spread across the Pacific.
