Weight loss jabs study begins after hundreds report pancreas issues

A study has been initiated to investigate potential pancreatic issues linked to weight loss injections like Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Wegovy, with hundreds of reports of pancreatitis. The Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is calling for individuals who experienced acute pancreatitis while using these drugs to provide details via the Yellow Card scheme for the research. Through this study, the aim is to identify genetic factors that could predispose certain individuals to pancreatitis when taking these medications, ultimately aiming to reduce such side effects. This study also highlights the importance of closely monitoring adverse reactions and safety concerns associated with weight loss drugs.
