Weather warning for thunderstorms issued as dry conditions increase flash flood risk

Intense thundery downpours in the UK may lead to flash flooding risk, with some areas possibly seeing a month's worth of rain in just a few hours. The Met Office has issued yellow thunderstorm warnings, predicting around 20-30mm of rain per hour and up to 60-90mm in a few hours. Dry soils due to summer heatwaves could worsen the situation, causing rapid runoff and increasing the likelihood of flash flooding in affected regions.
