Water cannon used against Northern Ireland rioters
Published: 6/14/2025

Police in Portadown used water cannon to tackle rioters who were attacking them with petrol bombs, fireworks, masonry, bricks, and bottles. The disturbance marked the town's second night of unrest but was at a lower level than earlier in the week when violence erupted after a protest over an alleged sexual assault. Dozens of officers in riot gear in Portadown have been working to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the violence that left 63 officers injured over four nights.
