US carries out 'massive' strike against IS in Syria

The US conducts a significant military strike against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria as a response to an attack on American forces. The operation, called Operation Hawkeye Strike, included over 70 airstrikes across central Syria, targeting IS infrastructure and weapons sites with more than 100 precision munitions. President Donald Trump vows strong retaliation against IS strongholds following the deadly December attack in Palmyra, in which two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed.
