Two Major League Baseball pitchers charged in sports gambling scheme

Two Cleveland Guardians pitchers, Emmanuel Clase de la Cruz and Luis Leandro Ortiz Ribera, have been charged in an alleged sports gambling scheme involving rigging pitches in Major League Baseball games. Federal prosecutors and the FBI announced the charges, stating that the scheme involved illegal wagers totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. The pitchers are accused of taking bribes for the advanced information. Despite the charges, Clase and Ortiz have denied any wrongdoing in the case.
