Trail hunting to be banned as part of new animal welfare strategy
The UK government is set to ban trail hunting, labeling it as a "smokescreen" for the hunting of wild animals. While trail hunting involves following a scent trail laid for dogs without killing animals, it will be prohibited as part of an animal welfare strategy. The move comes following concerns raised by anti-hunting groups and amidst the already existing restrictions on hunting wild mammals in England and Wales under the 2004 Hunting Act.
