TikTok's owner, ByteDance, has signed agreements with US and global investors to secure its majority stake in the American market, avoiding a potential ban in the US over national security concerns. The deal, set to close by 22 January, will involve a group of investors, including Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX, owning half of the joint venture. The agreement will allow over 170 million Americans to continue enjoying TikTok, with a focus on retraining the recommendation algorithm on American user data for user privacy and protection.
