Three endangered macaques born at monkey sanctuary
Published: 5/30/2025

Three endangered Barbary macaque monkeys have been born at Trentham Monkey Forest sanctuary in Staffordshire, bringing joy to the staff. With fewer than 8,000 of these endangered animals left in the wild, the births mark the beginning of "baby season" at the sanctuary. The adorable newborns were discovered high up in the trees by the head guide, and will now learn the ways of the Barbary macaque with the support of their group members. Trentham Monkey Forest aims to raise awareness about the endangered status of these monkeys and works with organizations to protect them in their natural habitats.
