The deadly cancers left behind by 50 years of success
Despite significant improvements in cancer survival rates over the last five decades, certain cancers like oesophagus, stomach, lungs, and pancreatic cancer continue to lag behind, with 10-year survival rates remaining low. The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's study highlights the disparities in survival rates among different types of cancer. While progress has been made in early detection and treatment, more efforts are needed to bridge the gap in survival rates between different cancer types. The government is expected to introduce a new strategy to address these disparities and improve outcomes for all cancer patients.
