Singapore GP declared F1's first 'heat hazard' race
After the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix, where heat and humidity affected drivers, the need for a driver-cooling system arose. French driver Esteban Ocon vomited in his helmet, and Williams' Logan Sargeant retired due to the extreme conditions. While some drivers find the cooling vests uncomfortable, others like Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso acknowledge the benefits, with Sainz mentioning increased system efficiency and Alonso noting the cooling effect but acknowledging the less comfortable material. George Russell from Mercedes also praised the noticeable impact of the cooling system during the Bahrain Grand Prix.
