Settlement reached after baby choked on pasta at nursery

The parents of Oliver Steeper, a nine-month-old baby who died after choking at nursery, have received a six-figure settlement from the former Jelly Beans Day Nursery in Ashford without an admission of liability. Following the tragedy, Oliver's parents have been campaigning for better safety measures around weaning babies onto solid food and emergency first aid provision for nurseries, which has led to new safer-eating measures coming into force. The Oliver Steeper Foundation, set up in his memory, aims to supply anti-choking devices in childcare and early years settings across the UK, having already distributed over 1,450 LifeVacs.
