Oldest Post Office scandal victim made OBE
Betty Brown, the oldest surviving victim of the Post Office Horizon IT scandal, has been awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her advocacy for justice and fighting against wrongful prosecutions. Betty and her late husband were forced out of their Post Office in 2003 after spending over £50,000 to cover non-existent shortfalls. The Horizon IT system led to erroneous prosecutions of over 900 sub-postmasters, causing a nationwide scandal and one of the UK's biggest miscarriages of justice. Betty Brown accepted the OBE on behalf of all the victims and highlighted the need for justice and recognition for those affected by the Post Office's errors.
