Nicotine pouch rise driven by young men - study
A study suggests that young men are driving the increasing popularity of nicotine pouches in Great Britain, with 7.5% of 16 to 24-year-old men using them compared to 1.9% of young women. University College London researchers found that most pouch users also smoke or vape, and some are using them to help quit smoking. The rise in pouch sales has been primarily fueled by marketing targeted at young men through platforms like Formula 1 teams, music festivals, and influencer marketing. Dr. Harry Tattan-Birch, a UCL researcher, emphasizes the need to research whether these pouches can aid in smoking cessation.
