Nearly half of hospital loo users do not wash hands

A University of Surrey study reveals that nearly half of people using hospital toilets do not wash their hands, impacting patient safety. The research, conducted in partnership with Bispebjerg hospital in Denmark, used sensors to monitor hygiene behaviors, finding that 43.7% of hospital toilet users skipped handwashing. Despite increased awareness due to COVID-19, this neglectful behavior emphasizes the need for improved hand hygiene practices in healthcare settings.
