Nature is not a blocker to housing growth, MPs find
MPs warn that nature should not be seen as a barrier to housing growth, as doing so risks missing both housing and nature targets. The government's Planning and Infrastructure Bill, which overrides habitat protections, might not be enough to meet its goal of building 1.5 million homes by the end of the parliament, according to the Environmental Audit Committee. The committee advises addressing skills shortages in ecology, planning, and construction instead of viewing nature as an obstacle to housing delivery.
