National NHS maternity inquiry announced as Streeting promises no more failings
Health Secretary Wes Streeting has announced a national inquiry into maternity care in England to address recent failings, including in Leeds, Sussex, Gloucester, and Mid and South Essex. The rapid investigation aims to provide accountability to families affected by maternity scandals and will begin this summer, with a report due by December 2025. Streeting apologized to families who experienced harm due to avoidable errors and vowed to ensure that no parent or baby is let down in the future.
